Charming story of an old man falling in love for the first time. Well…
Story-switch punches you in the gut, then stamps on your heart for good measure. Superb acting and proves that life IS too short.

AKA Mark of an Angel. French film about a woman that is convinced that another family’s daughter is actually her dead daughter.
An air of unease pervades the film, with subtle acting from all involved. Felt at times that I couldn’t watch it due to feeling uneasy about what might happen.

(Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown).
I like Almodóvar’s films generally, but this just bored the pants off of me. Watched a third of it and pressed the eject button.

Somebody very special to me sent me a preview clip of the animation, knowing that I’d like it. Well - I love it. It’s a delicious feast for the eyes and imagination. Kind of unique style (vector based?) of animation, but so much attention to detail, it’s amazing.
Have fun working out who all the voices are.

tumblrbot asked: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?
Lately - my hoody.
Follows the life of a French family, going through trouble, marriage, death and lots more.
Took me a while to get into it, but eventually hooked by its charms. It also has a great soundtrack, where I heard David Bowie - Time for the first time in ages.

A humble servant with unnurtured artistic talents, is noticed by an art critic. Same great actress from Amélie - Yolande Moreau (one who gets the lost letters).
A tad slow for me, but enjoyable. Yolande’s face fascinates me, but that’s besides the point.

Pretty depressing tale of German kids growing up, with abusive parents. Takes place just before the outbreak of World War I. All very bizarre, but wonderfully filmed.

Almost documentary-like following of a family on the Kazakhstan Steppe, bringing up sheep and camels. Quite a lot of very funny moments, along with some hard-hitting scenes. Has one heart-warming scene of the delivery of a sheep.
All those sheep just reminded me of Halldór Laxness’s book - Independent People.

Charming Japanese film about an annual family meeting, to recognise the death of a son.
Follows them through a day’s events.
